Schmid

Roger Schmid is a Global Beauty Industry Expert with a strong reputation in Innovation. He was born in Switzerland, grew up in Italy, and lives now in the New York area.
Trained early in his professional life in Olfaction he has worked all around the world in Beauty and Home-Care. He is fluent in English, Italian, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
His management experience with leading Scent suppliers, Givaudan, Firmenich and Symrise has included various Global positions and Operating Board memberships.
Due to the nature of the fragrance business Roger has collaborated worldwide with top managers from all major players in the Beauty world, as well as Fashion Designers, Celebrities and other leaders in Arts and Culture.
In 2005 Roger created Nose About LLC, a global multidisciplinary network of Experts in Scent and the Senses. Clients have included Puig Fashion & Beauty, Burt’s Bees, Pierre Fabre, Heinz Glas, Bottega Verde, Arcaea and Brazilian Natura&Co where he actively participated to the acquisitions of Aesop and The Body Shop. He joined the Board of Aesop from 2012 to 2017, and was a member of Natura&Co Group Operating Committee in 2018/19.
Also active in the world of Education and Preservation he co-founded in 1998 the Universita dell’Immagine in Milan, Italy, a now extinct post-graduate program around the Senses. He has also taught at FIT in New York and SCAD in Savannah.
In 2022 he co-created the first Olfactive Certification Program for Architects at the Politecnico University in Milan, Italy.
In the past Roger acted as an Advisor to the Great Rift Valley Trust in Kenya. He has participated in activities with the Aspen Institute, TED, as well as the Pediatric Aids Foundation. He is also a past Board member of the Fragrance Foundation of America.
Roger is married to Françoise with whom he shares a strong passion for gardening and has two grown-up children.
